In the year 1907 the Technische Hochschule München founded an independent "Institute for Hoisting Devices and Conveyor Systems“. One hundred years later conveying technologies still are a high priority research area at the institute now having adopted the modern name "Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow, Logistics" (fml). In these traditional surroundings, being simultaneously open minded with respect to new developments, the institute fml can look back on a history of more than 100 years.
