Procedure

On the basis of the innovative production environment the requirements of the fuel cell powered industrial trucks and their hydrogen infrastructure are identified and matched at beginning of the project. Based on this Linde Material Handling develops the planned industrial trucks (5 forklifts and 6 tugger trains) and integrates the fuel cell system. BMW builds the needed hydrogen infrastructure in the body shop of the BMWi vehicle i3 and i8 at the plant in Leipzig. After the official acceptance and the start of the operation the scientific evaluation begins with the testing and the data collection of the hydrogen powered industrial trucks.

The main tasks of the chair fml are on the one hand the development of a model for the evaluation of the three areas economic efficiency, sustainability and reliability of the industrial trucks and on the other hand the development of a guideline for the use of the hydrogen powered industrial trucks.

For the development of the valuation model influencing factors of those fields and possible indicators are initially derived. In the following time interactions and dependencies of the indicators of the different valuation fields are analyzed and a holistic model displayed. Based on this and the acquired data of the application at BMW the hydrogen industrial trucks are evaluated.

Furthermore the key factors of the efficiency and the sustainability are detected and a tool for the assessment of varying application scenarios such as fleet size or prices for hydrogen is developed.

Valuation model



The knowledge from the project H2IntraDrive concerning the hydrogen infrastructure, the hydrogen powered industrial trucks and the official authorization will be combined in the guideline for the use of the hydrogen powered industrial trucks. Checklists, time schedules and sample documents are worked out to support a fast and economical rollout of the technology.
